It's been a long time since this page was last updated. Time has passed so quickly and so many things have happened that it's just slipped by us. We have been in Provo, UT for about 9 months now and Kristina is quickly coming up on her one year mark back in school. She's enjoying school even though it has been hectic. This semester, she has some classes she really enjoys, including a classing in transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and nucleic acid chemistry. She's also the teaching assistant for a class of over 100 immunology students. Needless to say, she's very busy. She also got to attend an international conference for cancer research in July in Washington D.C. It was supposed to be in April in Toronto, Canada, but the SARS epidemic shut the city down 2 days before they were to leave.
The children are growing fast. They both talk a lot and we understand them better everyday. They certainly have very definite personalities. They love going to nursery, especially now that they both go to the senior nursery. They didn't like being separated when we first got here. They love to play outside and have made quite a few friends here. They got to spend a month in Tennessee around the time Mommy went to Washington D.C. for her conference. Back in the spring, we all took a trip to Southern California and BJ and Hannah got to go to the beach for the first time. They weren't as thrilled with it as Mommy and Daddy had hoped (since they both grew up with the beach). We think it was because the water was so cold. Even Daddy didn't care for the chilly water.
Ben is working for Burger King and will soon be the assistant there. He enjoys his job but is looking forward to finishing his degree and doing something else once Kristina finishes school. Although he gets frustrated (as any parent does) he enjoys spending more time with the children than he used to. The hard part is not getting to spend as much time with his wife.
We have a very nice ward. We were called to be the family history teachers. It's a little difficult because we only have computers in our building. Since the library on campus has the largest family history center outside the main branch in Salt Lake, we don't have one in our stake center. So, we can teach them about PAF, Family Search, Temple Ready, etc., but it's hard to teach about primary research like birth certificates, census records, etc. We have a lot of turnover because of the nature of a student ward, but we have made some good friends.
Well, I guess that's about it for now. Keep in contact and email us with any news of your own, or just to chat. Kristina@flb.org or Ben@flb.org .
